APPLICATION FOR SCHOLARSHIP TO SUMMER CHEMISTRY MODELING INSTRUCTION WORKSHOP ORGANIZED BY STEMteachersNYC - Monday, July 21 through Friday, August 8, 2014

Please be sure that you are free for the full 3 weeks (July 21-Aug 8), Monday-Thursday 9am - 4:30 pm, Friday 9am - 3:30 pm (followed by optional social hour) at Columbia Teachers College, 525 West 120 St., NY, NY. Please prepare responses to the questions below, and copy/paste the text into the form that appears when you click "Register". Letters of support from other teachers, the principal, and other administrator(s) at the school or district are encouraged and will be considered. Explicit support from the principal for hands-on experiments and for the use of “active engagement” methods, especially Modeling Instruction, will be considered and will significantly strengthen the application. STEMteachersNYC will inform you if your application has been funded within 2 weeks of the date you submit your application. STEMteachersNYC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that cultivates excellence in STEM teaching and promotes deep understanding and success for students through innovative, teacher-led professional development. Our weekend workshops for teachers are offered during the school year and multi-week workshop intensives occur in the summer. We welcome and encourage teachers from across the globe, the US, and the local New York City area!

STEMteachersNYC is registered as a Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) provider with the New York State Education Department.

 

STEMteachersNYC delivers professional development workshops for teachers, by teachers, about teaching, since 2011. STEM Teachers of New York City, Inc. (STEMteachersNYC) is an approved CTLE Sponsor (ID#23385), and vendor for the New York City Department of Education (#STE-068881); MTAC Qualified. Pre-service teachers may attend for free.

 

STEMteachersNYC was founded in the summer of 2011 by a group of educators as a teacher-led study, support, and professional development group.  STEMteachersNYC membership has grown at over 30% per year and now stands at over 1,600 members. STEMteachersNYC is an affiliate of the American Modeling Teachers Association.
